Description Mayaphal is a small tree with an average height of 10-15 meters. The bark of the tree is dark grey, thick and deeply fissured. The leaves are simple, alternate and oval in shape with serrated margins. The flowers are unisexual, with male flowers borne on long catkins and female flowers borne on short spikes. The fruits are small acorns, about 1.5 cm long, oblong or ovoid in shape, and have a hard shell.
Parts Used The galls of the tree are used for medicinal purposes.
